Bro. Charles H
erbert Marshall Jr, Alpha 1917

Bro. Marshall was an interesting Bruh. You can see that he was a tremendous multisport athlete and leader at Howard graduating from HU in 1920. He received his M.D. from Howard in 1924. His Father, a physician and HU grad of 1890, established a medical practice at 2710 P St, NW (right in Georgetown; at that time, Georgetown was predominantly Black…Google it to learn more). Junior established his practice in 1925 right next door at 2712 P St., NW which he maintained at that address for over 50 years. Bro. Marshall also taught at HU College of Medicine for many years.

During the '40s & '50s, Bro. Marshall served as a leader in his community acquiring the title of "Mr. Georgetown" and the unofficial mayor of Georgetown.

Bro. Marshall was extremely active in the Fraternity as he was part of the Brothers who chartered Alpha Omega Chapter in 1922 and served as its first Basileus from 1922-28 then again from 1939-40.

Below is a picture from the Howard University Yearbook, The Echo of '20, of HU's Basketball team.  Seated on the front row to the far right is Bro. Marshall.  Also, two of Bro. Marshall's Line Brothers are pictured.  The are Bros. Charles Parrish (Alpha 1917) who is standing on the far right and Percy Richardson (Alpha 1917) who is seated in the center (third in from the left holding the basketball).
